MSRP $25.99 First off let me say I really had low expectations of this product to begin with, and the product lived up to those expectations.
I had bought this product to fill a gap in my camping gear. It is a very simple concept, a portable reusable, and attractive fire ring. It was to be used to have a small controllable campfire in the back yard on the "camping in the back yard nights" with the kids.
It was very simple to set up and seemed to work just fine for a small camp fire. I had made sure that there were several inches from the fire to the ring and that the fire never touched the ring. It made no difference, the paint on the ring just kept bubbling, and bubbling until it fell off. This happened on the very first fire and it was not a very big fire at all. We were burning small dead fall branches and twigs. Our camp fire was going for maybe two-three hours at most.It was just big enough to cook some hot dogs, toast marshmallows and make some hot water for hot chocolate.
The paint issue just got worse the second time it was used (the next morning). Once the paint was coming off the unit it was time for the rust to set in. and boy did it set in fast, moving under the paint.
Did it keep the campfire safely contained, yes. It did work and do what is was designed to do. My problem is with the quality of the paint and finish. I should not have to refinish a brand new product after only one use.
I will be striping the entire unit, rounding all of the sharp corners and refinishing it with a hi temp paint that can take direct contact with flames.
I will also be looking at a new carry and storage option for the fire ring as the bag it comes in is total junk. The unit itself has very sharp corners and will rip though the bag in a very short time, if you can get it back in the bag at all.
Pros: Easy to set up, attractive styling (Coleman Lantern design cut in to the panels) & quick assembly & dis-assembly (no tools necessary).
Cons: Storage bag is useless and cheap, durability of the paint and finish is substandard.
